This standard addresses aspects of geotechnical and foundation design that are applicable to a broad class of continental shelf structures rather than to any specific type of structure. The provisions of this standard can be used when designing the foundations of any offshore oil and gas field structures (stationary and floating). In this case, the term “foundation” is interpreted in a broad sense, including the bottom foundations of floating structures (anchors). These aspects include the following:
——characteristics of the site and foundation soils;
——identification of hazardous geological processes and phenomena;
——calculations and construction of shallow foundations resting on the seabed;
——calculations and installation of pile foundations;
——soil-structure interaction in relation to auxiliary structures, for example, subsea production systems, risers and flow lines [relevant guidance is given in A.10 (Appendix A)];
——design of anchors for holding systems for floating structures [instructions are given in A.11 (Appendix A)]. Comprehensive requirements for studies of sea soil are given in GOST R 59996
