Scope: This standard establishes a general approach to assessing technology readiness levels and system readiness levels in knowledge-intensive and high-tech industries. The concepts of readiness levels are discussed here in relation to product technologies and material composition. In an integrated research and development management system, assessments of the readiness levels of technologies and systems are used in the technology development planning subsystem, in the research and development subsystem and tactical management of technology development projects. Together with assessments of the achieved characteristics of technologies and technical concepts, they constitute a system for assessing the effectiveness of the scientific and technical reserve created in applied science
