Scope of Application: This standard specifies the requirements for ion vapor deposition of aluminum coating. It includes updates on preparation methods, blasting requirements, and the deletion of certain sections. The standard is applicable to aerospace materials and is intended for use by coating processors and purchasers.

This standard was issued in January 1981, reaffirmed in August 2018, and revised in December 2023. It supersedes the previous version, AMS2427D. The revision includes changes to preparation methods, allowing for other types of masking, and clarifies requirements for blasting. Additionally, section 3.4.1.2.1 has been deleted.

For ordering information, the purchaser must specify the AMS2427E standard, desired coating thickness, and whether internal surfaces require coating. Optional acceptance standards may also be specified.
