2Scope / Description
This part of ISO 10136 specifies an analytical procedure for the determination of the boron concentration, expressed as oxide (B2O3), released into an extract solution during a hydrolytic resistance test using molecular absorption spectroscopy. This part of ISO 10136 is applicable to the analysis of extract solutions obtained from any type of glass or glassware, including laboratory and pharmaceutical ware, such as tableware and kitchenware made of borosilicate glass (e.g., borosilicate glass 3.3 in ISO 3585) or neutral glass as defined in ISO 4802. The extract solution may be obtained from glassware, e.g., when tested in accordance with ISO 4802, or from glass materials, e.g., when tested in accordance with ISO 719 or ISO 720. It may also be applied to extract solutions generated by any method for measuring the hydrolytic resistance of glass or glassware.
