In a dynamic measurement system, the performance of a liquid hydrocarbon meter will vary with flow conditions (i.e., flow rate, viscosity, temperature, pressure, and density of the fluid passing through it), as well as due to wear and tear of the meter. This International Standard gives guidance for establishing and monitoring the performance of flowmeters using appropriate statistical control methods. It applies to both centrally verified (off-line) and on-line verified measurements. These methods are also applicable to any volume or mass measuring system. The method followed for collecting data is based on the control limits. Similarly, the method for determining the reliability of these data is also described in GB/T17286.3-1998 (idtISO 7278-3: 1995). This standard describes how to calculate warning and failure limits on selected performance diagrams, and how to use these performance diagrams for routine measurement and interpretation. In the chapters of central verification and online verification, examples of use are given. Whether the difference is due to changes in flow conditions, random errors, or some other identifiable cause.
