Scope
This standard gives guidelines to ensure the fidelity and reliability of flow measurement pulse data cable transmission systems, the main purpose of which is to ensure the integrity of the basic indicating system. Note: Compliance with the requirements of this standard does not improve the basic accuracy of the measurement, that is, the accuracy of the electrical or electronic parts of the measurement system, nor the accuracy of the entire system including the flowmeter. Reliability levels In order to achieve different reliability levels for this type of system, the guidelines and suggestions for the design, installation, use and maintenance of related equipment are specially stipulated. Note: The reliability grades are rated as E~A respectively from the lowest to the highest. For most applications, lower grades will suffice. So far, few known systems require Class A. This standard does not specify which reliability classes are applicable to a particular system. Security and regulatory requirements This International Standard does not specifically address detailed regulatory requirements, including security. General considerations are included in this standard as a guide. Note: Compliance with this standard does not allow manufacturers and users of systems and equipment to fail to comply with national legal metrology, safety and other regulations. Pay special attention to items 5 and 6 in the introduction.
