Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for the design (including rule design and analysis design, the same below), manufacture, welding, inspection and acceptance of steel spherical storage tanks (hereinafter referred to as "spherical tanks"). This standard is applicable to segmented or hybrid spherical tanks supported by pillars with a design pressure not greater than 6.4 MPa and a design temperature range in accordance with the allowable service temperature of the steel. This standard does not apply to the following spherical tanks: spherical tanks in nuclear energy installations; spherical tanks subjected to relative motion (such as on-board or ship-borne); spherical tanks with a nominal volume less than 50 m ³; spherical tanks with double-layer structure .
