This standard specifies the type, basic parameters, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, etc. of marine red light parachute signals. This standard applies to the red light parachute signal used when ships, lifeboats and life rafts are in distress and needs to be rescued. It meets the requirements of the 1983 amendment to the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea adopted by the International Maritime Organization.
