2Scope / Description

This document specifies the minimum requirements for CL type lubricants. CL type lubricants are primarily used for circulating lubrication and are recommended when the requirements for aging stability and/or corrosion protection are higher than those for C type lubricants (DIN 51517-1). CL type lubricants can also be used as hydraulic fluids and general lubricants/machinery oils. CL type lubricants are recommended when there is a risk of corrosion due to water, or when using C type lubricants (DIN 51517-1) at high temperatures would result in a premature service life. For applications with higher wear protection requirements in mixed friction areas, CLP type lubricants (DIN 51517-3) should be preferred.
