2Scope / Description
This document is to be used in conjunction with EN 13001-1 and EN 13001-2, which specify the general conditions, requirements, and methods for avoiding hazards in cranes through design and theoretical verification procedures. This document deals with bearings in cranes. It is not intended for bearings that are part of standard components, e.g., gearboxes, motors, etc.; however, such bearings must be designed using the load actions of EN 13001-2 and the classification parameters of EN 13001-1. The following is a list of significant hazardous situations and events that could lead to risks to persons during intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. Sections 4 to 7 of this document are necessary to reduce or eliminate risks associated with the following hazards: exceeding strength limits (yield strength, fracture strength, and fatigue strength); Exceeding temperature limits of the material or components; elastic instability of the crane or its parts (buckling, buckling). This document does not apply to cranes manufactured before the date of publication of this document as a European Standard and serves as a reference basis for the European Standards for certain crane types.
