2Scope / Description
This PAS describes the low voltage shore connection (LVSC) system, both onboard and onshore, for supplying power to the ship from shore. This PAS applies to the design, installation and testing of LVSC systems and addresses:
•shore-based low voltage distribution systems;
•shore-to-ship connections and interface equipment;
•transformers/reactors;
•semiconductors/resolvers;
•ship power distribution systems; and • control, monitoring, interlocking and power management systems. Note: This PAS does not apply to the supply of power to a ship while it is in dock, such as during dry docking and other outages for maintenance and repair. Additional and/or alternative requirements may be imposed by national and ship operating jurisdictions or by the owner or administration responsible for the shore power supply or distribution system. It is expected that LVSC systems will be suitable for ships requiring no more than 1 MVA. This PAS does not cover low voltage shore connection systems not exceeding 250 A, 125 A per cable and 300 V to earth. High voltage shore connection systems are covered by IEC/ISO/IEEE 80005-1.
