2Scope / Description
This document addresses the physical security of data centers, based on the criteria and classifications for "availability," "security," and "energy efficiency enablement" presented in EN 50600-1. It defines designations for data center spaces as specified in EN 50600-1. NOTE: The Estonian term "ruum" is used herein and hereinafter as the translation of the English term "space." This document establishes requirements and recommendations for such data center spaces and the systems implemented therein with respect to: (a) protection against unauthorized access through administrative and technological measures; (b) protection against intrusion; (c) protection against fires that may occur within data center spaces; (d) protection against environmental incidents occurring within data center spaces (excluding fires) that may affect the defined security level; (e) protection against environmental incidents occurring outside data center spaces that may impact the defined security level. NOTE: Construction requirements and recommendations are provided by reference to EN 50600-2-1. Safety requirements and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements are outside the scope of this document and are covered by other standards and regulations. However, the information provided in this document may assist in complying with those standards and regulations.
