2Scope / Description
This document specifies the safety, construction, and operational requirements for automatic shut-off valves for gas burners and gas appliances with a declared maximum upstream pressure not exceeding 500 kPa (5 bar) and nominal connection sizes not larger than DN 250. These valves are intended for use with one or more gaseous fuels in accordance with NF EN 437+A1. It covers valves actuated electrically, as well as fluid-actuated valves when the control signals for those fluids are electrically operated. This standard does not apply to external electrical devices that merely switch the control signal or release the motive energy of the control mechanism. Valves in which flow is controlled by external electrical signals—either in discrete steps or proportionally to the received signal—along with valves equipped with position indicators for the closed position, are covered by this document.
