Scope: This International Standard establishes a system for numbering weaving harnesses on Jacquard (i.e. Jacquard fabric preparation machines). It applies to continuous pattern cards, strip pattern cards, Jacquard machines, slat reeds and harness cord guides for weaving fabrics with the fabric facing right side up when woven. This International Standard does not cover Jacquard equipment for special patterns (e.g. symmetrical harnesses) where the standardized pattern holes, hooks and harness cords do not control the first warp thread but are dictated by the particular type of equipment. This International Standard may also not be fully applicable to some Wilton carpet weaving situations where part of the full row of cords on the Jacquard is not directly connected to the corresponding position on the slat reed and must be crossed back to the front of the slat reed.
