2Scope / Description

The specific requirements of this part of the DIN VDE 0100 series of standards (VDE 0100) apply to the selection and installation of luminaires and lighting systems that are part of a fixed outdoor installation. The supply point of the outdoor lighting system is the point of transfer of electrical energy from the power supplier or from the point in the circuit that exclusively supplies the outdoor lighting system. These requirements apply, for example, to lighting systems for streets, parks, gardens, public squares, sports fields, monuments, floodlights, telephone booths, bus shelters, information boards, city maps, and traffic signs. These requirements do not apply to: public lighting systems that are part of the public distribution network; temporary permanent lighting; road traffic signal systems; luminaires mounted externally on a building that are supplied directly from the building's internal wiring system.
