This standard provides requirements and recommended practices for low-voltage electrical installations, connected or not connected to a distribution network, capable of operating:

——electrical equipment, and/or - local energy storage units, and/or - the distribution network. Such electrical installations are called customer-specific electrical installations (PEI). These requirements and recommended practices apply to new installations and modifications to existing installations. This document also provides requirements and recommended practices regarding the safe, efficient, and proper behavior of these installations when integrated into a smart grid. Note: Requirements for electrical power sources used for safety services are given in IEC 60364-5-56. Information on grid interaction for ensuring the stability of grid-connected PEI networks is given in Annex B. This document covers requirements related to the stability of islanded and stand-alone PEIs.
