2Scope / Description

This document describes the context in which portfolio, program, and project management is performed and provides guidance on executing such management. It may also be used to evaluate, assure, or attest the effectiveness of portfolio, program, and project management practices. NOTE: Throughout this document, the term "portfolio" refers to a collection of projects and programs, and the term "program" refers to a set of interrelated projects and other related work. This document is intended for governing bodies and senior leaders and executives who influence, impact, or make decisions on portfolio, program, and project management. It is also designed to guide those who lead projects, programs, and portfolios, including sponsors, steering committees, portfolio owners, and project management offices. Portfolio, program, and project managers may also find it useful, as may stakeholders involved in the development and delivery of such management activities. Other interested parties include those who advise, inform, assist, or work within projects, programs, and portfolios.
