Conveyor belts for general purpose use - Electrical and flammability safety requirements; German version EN 12882:2015

2Scope / Description

EN 12882:2015 specifies the electrical and fire safety requirements for conveyor belts used for general purposes (non-underground use), and classifies conveyor belts according to their intended use and safety levels. This European Standard does not specify conductivity (current resistance), which can be measured by the method described in EN ISO 21178, an indicator important for certain types of light-duty conveyor belts. This European Standard does not apply to conveyor belts manufactured by CEN prior to the date of publication of this document. Note: This specification does not cover the basic health and safety requirements of Directive 94/9/EG of EN 14973 concerning equipment and safety systems in explosive atmospheres. This specification aims to assist users in selecting conveyor belts with the necessary electrical and fire safety characteristics based on appropriate risk assessments; therefore, it does not include requirements for labeling, information provision, etc., which are already included in the relevant product standards (such as EN ISO 14890 and EN ISO 15236-1).
