2Scope / Description
This document specifies the identification and marking of terminals for electrical equipment such as resistors, fuses, relays, contactors, transformers, rotating machines, and combinations thereof (e.g., assemblies), as well as the identification of ends of leads for certain dedicated purposes. It establishes fundamental rules regarding the use of specific colors and alphanumeric combinations for lead identification to prevent misconnection and ensure safe operation. These color codes and alphanumeric combinations are intended for application on cable and wiring harnesses, busbars, electrical equipment, and in cables or installations.
