2Scope / Description
Part 8-1 of IEC 60364 provides additional requirements, measures and recommendations for the design, installation, operation and verification of all types of low-voltage electrical installations, including local energy production and storage, to optimize the overall efficient use of electricity. It introduces requirements, recommendations and methods for the design and assessment of electrical installations within the framework of energy efficiency management to obtain the best permanent functionally equivalent service with the lowest electricity consumption and an acceptable balance between energy availability and economy. These requirements, recommendations and methods apply to new installations and modifications to existing installations within the scope of the IEC 60364 series. This standard applies to electrical installations in buildings or systems and not to products. The energy efficiency of these products and their operating requirements are covered by the relevant product standards. Where other standards provide specific requirements for specific system or installation applications (e.g. manufacturing systems covered by the ISO 20140 series), these requirements take precedence over this standard. This standard does not specifically address building automation systems.
