Inflatable boats — Part 4: Boats with a hull length of between 8 m and 24 m with a motor power rating of 15 kW and greater

2Scope / Description

This part of ISO 6185 specifies the minimum safety features for the design, materials, construction and testing of rigid hull inflatable boats (RIBs) with a hull length of 8 m to 24 m and an engine power of not less than 15 kW. This part of ISO 6185 applies to Type IX and Type X rigid hull inflatable boats for use in an operating temperature range of −20 °C to +60 °C. Type IX: Equipped with buoyancy tubes covering at least 85% of the port and starboard sides, suitable for navigation in near-shore and sheltered waters, including wind force 6 and waves not exceeding 2 m (design categories C and D), with a hull length of 8 m to 24 m and an engine power of not less than 15 kW. Type X: Equipped with buoyancy tubes covering at least 85% of the port and starboard sides, suitable for navigation in a wider range of waters, including wind force 8 and waves not exceeding 4 m (design category B), with a hull length of 8 m to 24 m and an engine power of not less than 75 kW.
