The scope of this Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the safety sign boards to be notified in facilities or places, hereinafter referred to as "sign boards", for accident prevention and first-aid system in factory, mine, construction works, school, hospital, theater, station, road, quay, airport (excluding starting and landing zone of aeroplane), vehicle, ship, etc. The sign boards are classified by material of base plate other than by kinds of signs and constitution division of signs specified in JIS Z 9103. The standard includes specifications for various performance characteristics such as color measurement, weather resistance, corrosion resistance, impact resistance, adhesiveness of color material, burning resistance, water resistance, dimensions, appearance, and material requirements for sign boards.
