2Scope / Description
This International Standard specifies general safety requirements for self-propelled forestry machines and machines configured as forestry machines. It addresses all important hazards, hazardous situations and events common to fellers, forders, delimbers, transfer conveyors, loaders, haulers, wood handlers, harvesters, chippers and multifunctional versions of these machine types, in normal use and in cases of misuse foreseeable by the manufacturer. It does not address hazards specific to a single machine, such as those associated with a particular attachment, so this standard alone cannot address all important hazards covering most machines. It does not address the hazards of chain flying out, upper guide side breakage, lifting operations, remote control operation, working lights or the need for road safety. For vibration measurements, test setups and working cycles are not addressed; nor are verification methods for noise measurements. It does not apply to hazards when maintenance or repairs are carried out by professional service personnel. The important hazards addressed are listed in Annex A. This International Standard does not apply to machines manufactured before the date of its publication.
