2Scope / Description
This European Standard applies to motorized forklifts equipped with variable booms for handling various loads via attachments (such as those listed in 3.10, 3.11, 3.13, 3.14, 3.15, 3.16, 3.19 and 3.20). This standard does not address situations where personnel are lifted using attachments (such as work platforms). It does not apply to forklifts equipped with variable-length spreaders (such as chains or ropes) that allow loads to swing freely in all directions. It applies to handling Series 1 containers of 6 meters or more in length, the dimensions and securing methods of which are specified by ISO 668 and ISO 3874. As a motorized forklift, this standard covers all special hazards that may arise during forklift operation and maintenance. For hazards during manufacturing, transport, commissioning, decommissioning and scrapping, refer to EN ISO 12100-2. Unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer, forklifts are designed to operate in a temperature range of -20°C to +50°C.
