This standard does not apply to small boats powered only by batteries for engine starting and navigation lights, which batteries are charged by an alternator driving the engine inside or outside the boat. This standard applies to the following DC and AC electrical systems individually or in combination: a) DC systems with rated voltage not exceeding 50V; b) single-phase AC systems with rated voltage not exceeding 250V; c) three-phase AC systems with rated voltage not exceeding 1000V.
