2Scope / Description

This part of ISO 15011 provides guidance for determining the emission rates of fumes and gases produced by resistance spot welding, expressed as the amount of pollutant per weld. It describes the test principles and considers the methods of sampling and analysis. This part of ISO 15011 can be used to determine the effects of material type, coating system and material thickness on the fumes and gases that may be generated when using fixed electrode combinations, welding equipment and test conditions. The data generated can be used by product manufacturers to provide information in safety data sheets and by occupational hygienists to evaluate the significant substances emitted from resistance spot welding for risk assessment and/or workplace exposure measurements.
