2Scope / Description
This document specifies procedures for evaluating general weldability for resistance welding of uncoated and coated metals. The prerequisite for the application of this standard and other related standards is that appropriately trained, qualified and experienced personnel are employed. The relevant part of ISO 14554 must be applied to the quality of the welded structures. To determine welding procedures, the guidance given in ISO 15609-5 should be followed. The tests serve the following purposes: a) comparing the metallurgical weldability of different metals, b) evaluating the weldability of differently designed components, e.g. B. the dimensional configuration, the layering of the parts to be welded, the geometric shape of the welding projection, etc., c) examining the influence of changes in the welding parameters on the welding suitability, such as welding current, welding time, electrode force or complicated welding programs including multi-pulse welding, stepper function for the Welding current etc., d) comparing the performance of the resistance welding device. The exact details of the test procedure to be used depend on which aspect of points a) to d) is to be evaluated in relation to the welding result obtained.
