2Scope / Description
Applies to wires used inside buildings for connecting terminals on equipment frames or apparatus to one another or to distribution frames, interconnection between subscriber's lines and exchange equipment in telegraph or telephone exchanges, and for temporary installations under relatively adverse conditions of use. Covers wire construction and dimensions. Specifies mechanical, climatic and electrical requirements including requirements for thermal stability. Appendix A provides a selection of samples and a test method for tensile stress while Appendix B describes a test after accelerated ageing. The cable construction is shown in Appendix C and two other appendices deal with the dimensions and test requirements of polyamide coated PVC insulated distribution wires and the calculation of the maximum diameter of insulated conductors. Shall be used in conjunction with IEC 189-1 Part 1.
