2Scope / Description

This standard specifies safety requirements for industrial electric heating equipment and installations using infrared radiation, typically generated by infrared emitters, which significantly dominates thermal convection or conduction as the means of transferring thermal energy to the workpiece. A further limitation is that infrared emitters have maximum spectral emissions at wavelengths longer than 780 nm in air or vacuum and emit a broadband continuous spectrum, such as by thermal radiation or a high-pressure arc. This standard does not apply to: infrared installations with lasers or light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the main sources; appliances intended for household use; appliances for laboratory use; electric heating installations with resistance heating by bare wires, tubes or rods used as heating elements and in which infrared radiation is a side effect of use and is not dominant; Infrared heating equipment with a rated electric power of infrared emitters less than 250 W; portable infrared equipment......
