2Scope / Description
This part of IEC 62282 addresses safety requirements for fuel cell power systems intended as a power source for electrically powered industrial trucks. The scope of this standard is limited to electrically powered industrial trucks and is applicable to material handling equipment, e.g., forklift trucks. This document refers to fuel cell power systems powered by gaseous hydrogen and to direct methanol fuel cell power systems for electric vehicles. The following fuels are within the scope of this standard: gaseous hydrogen; methanol. This document refers to the fuel cell power system according to Section 3.8 and Figure 1. This document applies to DC-type fuel cell power systems with a rated voltage below 150 V for use indoors and outdoors. The standard covers fuel cell power systems whose fuel reservoir is permanently connected to either the industrial truck or the fuel cell power system. The standard does not cover the following fuel cell power systems: fuel cell power systems with a removable fuel reservoir. Industrial trucks with hybrid drive and (internal) combustion engine; fuel cell energy systems with reformer; fuel cell energy systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres; fuel tanks for liquid hydrogen.
