2Scope / Description

This standard applies to ground-mounted photovoltaic modules based on crystalline silicon. It establishes test methods for resistance to short-term exposure to high voltage, which can cause degradation of photovoltaic modules during operation. This standard applies to photovoltaic modules that contain: photovoltaic cells made of crystalline silicon with a passivating/antireflective dielectric coating, the degradation mechanisms of which can be caused by the mobility of ions that affect the electric field near the surface of the photovoltaic cells or electrically interact with them; and a glass coating on the working surface. This standard does not apply to photovoltaic modules with solar concentrators or modules made from tandem photovoltaic cells.
