2Scope / Description
The main purpose of this International Standard is to provide data structures for electronic product catalogs for the automatic transfer of product data for building services equipment into models created using building services software applications. It includes a metamodel for defining product classes and their characteristics, as well as a metamodel for the product data exchanged in product catalogs. The product data must conform to the specifications for its respective product group. The standard series is divided into two parts: Fundamental concepts such as conceptual models, languages, geometric representations, and XML schemas are set out in the concept-related parts of the standard series (those with a single-digit number). Based on these resources, the content-related parts of this International Standard define specific models for describing and exchanging products for various product groups of building services equipment. The fundamental concepts defined by this standard series include: resources for defining selection criteria and a selection criterion tree to guide the selection process for identifying a suitable product from a parametric electronic catalog; Resources for defining dependent characteristics and their calculation functions for determining their values dependent on installation parameters; resources for defining compositional relationships between products that can be used to represent structures, such as bills of materials or accessory relationships, in models; resources for a geometric representation based on parametric CSG (Constructed Solid Geometry) that includes certain CSG elements, i.e., geometric elements typical of building services engineering products. This part of ISO 16757 specifies: the basic concepts, an all ......
