2Scope / Description
This European Standard specifies safety and performance requirements for double-acting hydraulic rescue tools manufactured after the publication date. It applies to double-acting hydraulic rescue tool systems intended for use by fire brigades and rescue services, primarily for cutting, spreading, or pulling apart components of vehicles, ships, railway vehicles, aircraft, and building components involved in accidents. As defined in Section 3, Terms and Definitions, these tools consist of a separate pump unit, the rescue tool(s), the necessary connections, and any accessories. This document addresses all significant hazards, hazardous situations, or hazardous events relevant to the machines when used as intended by the manufacturer or under conditions of misuse reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer. It is applicable to additional requirements for: operation under difficult conditions (e.g., extreme environmental conditions such as: temperatures outside the range of -20 °C to +55 °C, corrosive environments, tropical environments, contaminating environments, strong magnetic fields, potentially explosive atmospheres); the risk arising directly from the facilities intended for carrying, transporting, and moving double-acting hydraulic rescue equipment during the operational period.
