2Scope / Description

DIN 14425:2017-04 applies to portable submersible electric pumps with electric motors. This standard covers significant hazards, hazardous situations, and events that may occur when operated as intended under foreseeable conditions of use, as determined by the manufacturer or its authorized representative. It also specifies performance requirements and all associated tests. This standard applies to submersible electric pumps used in ambient air temperatures ranging from -15°C to +40°C. This standard does not apply to specific hazardous situations such as operation (e.g., handling discharge lines), transport by vehicle to the site of use, startup (e.g., lowering the submersible electric pump in the field), legally defined areas (e.g., electromagnetic compatibility, EMC), unsupervised long-term operation, or noise. It assumes that the machine is operated by trained personnel, that flammable liquids, acids, alkalis, and solvents are not being conveyed, that it is not being used in explosive atmospheres, that hazardous substances (e.g., asbestos) are not being handled, and that components are kept in good working order.
