2Scope / Description

EN 474-1:2006+A5:2018 specifies the general safety technical requirements for earthmoving machinery described in EN ISO 6165:2006, excluding road rollers and horizontal directional drilling rigs. This standard also applies to similar machinery primarily designed for use with working devices for the excavation, loading, transport, spreading, and leveling of soil and rock. It describes the common safety requirements for earthmoving machinery and should be used in conjunction with the other parts of the EN 474 series (Parts 2 to 12). This part also contains specific requirements applicable to demolition machinery, as well as general requirements for working devices designed for use with earthmoving machinery within the scope. This standard addresses all hazards, hazardous situations, and safety risk events that are of significant importance to earthmoving machinery under both intended and reasonably foreseeable unintended use.
