2Scope / Description

This European Standard specifies general safety requirements for earthmoving machinery described in EN ISO 6165:2006, excluding rollers and horizontal drilling machines. This European Standard also applies to related machinery primarily intended for use with attachments for loosening, lifting, moving, transporting, distributing, and leveling soil and rock. This European Standard describes common safety requirements for earthmoving machinery and is intended to be used in conjunction with any of the parts of EN 474, Parts 2 to 12. This part contains specific requirements for demolition machinery. This document also contains general requirements for attachments intended for use in conjunction with the earthmoving machinery described in the scope. Electrical hazards caused by the main electrical circuit and drive are not addressed in this European Standard, except in Part 12, if the primary energy source is electricity. This European Standard does not address the towing of trailers. This European Standard addresses all significant hazards, hazardous situations and hazardous events that apply to earthmoving machinery when used as intended.
