2Scope / Description
ISO 9001:2015 — Quality management systems — Requirements Scope This standard specifies requirements for a quality management system when an organization: (a) needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer requirements and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements; and (b) aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement and assurance of conformity with customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. All requirements of this International Standard are general and are intended to be applicable to any organization, regardless of its type, size, or the products and services it provides. NOTE 1: Within the context of this International Standard, the terms "product" and "service" apply only to products and services intended for, or required by, the customer. NOTE 2: Statutory and regulatory requirements may be specified by laws and regulations. This document provides guidance for organizations on implementing ISO 9001:2015 for the acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance of software and related services. It does not add to or otherwise modify the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. Annex A presents a table indicating additional guidance on the application of ISO 9001:2015 available from international standards developed by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 7, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27, and ISO/TC 176. The guidance contained in this document is not intended for use as assessment criteria for the registration or certification of a quality management system. However, some organizations may consider it necessary to apply the guidance provided in this document and may wish to assess whether the resulting quality management system conforms to this document. In such cases, organizations may use both this document and ISO 9001 as assessment criteria for quality management systems in the software domain.
