2Scope / Description
This Estonian standard applies to external water supply networks irrespective of ownership form, covering the water network from the water treatment plant or drilled well pump up to the exterior walls of buildings. It serves as a basis for the design of water networks, the sizing of water pipes, and the selection of pumps and other auxiliary equipment, and is applicable both to the construction of new water networks and to the expansion and renovation of existing ones. The standard specifies the functional requirements for the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and management of external water supply networks, as well as the activities required to meet these requirements. Water supply encompasses water abstraction, water treatment, water storage and transmission (external water supply network/distribution) to the consumer (see Figure 1). When selecting water abstraction sites, refer to relevant legislation and standard EVS 847-1; when treating water, refer to standard EVS 847-2; and when distributing water to consumers, refer to relevant legislation and standards EVS 921 and EVS 835.
