This European Standard specifies the safety requirements and/or measures for double-blade circular sawing machines used for cross-cutting, equipped with integrated feed functions and operating with manual loading and/or unloading, with the aim of eliminating identified hazards and reducing associated risks. The standard applies to machines designed for cutting solid timber, particleboard, fibreboard, and plywood, as well as materials covered with plastic edge banding and/or plastic/light-alloy laminates. This European Standard does not apply to: machines intended for cross-cutting logs; or double-blade top-crossing circular sawing machines. For computer numerical control (CNC) machines, this standard does not cover hazards related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The standard primarily applies to machines manufactured after the date of its publication.
