2Scope / Description

This method is used to determine the amount of carbon residue left by petroleum products after evaporation and pyrolysis, so as to provide an indicator of the relative coking tendency of petroleum products. This method is generally used for petroleum products that are easily partially decomposed during atmospheric distillation and relatively non-volatile. For petroleum products containing ash-generating components (determined by GB508 "Determination of Ash Content in Petroleum Products"), the result of high residual carbon value will be obtained, and the error depends on the amount of ash generated.
