2Scope / Description

This part of ISO 683 specifies technical delivery requirements for semi-finished products, hot-formed products (such as billets, billets, slabs), bars, wire, flat products and hammer or drop forgings made of direct hardened non-alloy steels and non-alloy flame and induction hardened steels and supplied in the heat treatment conditions given in table 1 and the surface conditions given in table 2. The steels are normally intended for the manufacture of quenched and tempered or austempered parts and may also be partially used in the normalized condition. The mechanical property requirements of this part of ISO 683 are limited to the dimensional ranges given in tables 9 and 10. This part does not apply to bright products for cold heading and bars and wire. In special cases, changes or additions to the technical delivery requirements shall be agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser at the time of enquiry and order.
