2Scope / Description
This document outlines the formulas and associated rules required for calculating infrastructure gauges; identifies various phenomena to be considered when defining infrastructure gauges; defines the methodology for calculating different profiles of these phenomena; lists rules for determining centerline distances between track axes; enumerates construction regulations for platforms; specifies rules for defining the pantograph gauge; and provides recommendations on various profiles necessary for infrastructure installation, verification, and maintenance, applicable to different track gauges. This document applies to heavy rail networks utilizing multiple track gauges. Other rolling stock and networks are excluded from its scope, though the relevant rules may be applied to them with appropriate adaptations and mutual agreements regarding responsibility allocation between rolling stock and infrastructure. This document does not apply to "S" and "T" gauges on the 1520 mm track gauge.
